hyde is a character of contrasts. He's an unstable guy, both beautiful and ugly, both strong and weak. He is sadistic and sympathic; sadistic when it comes to tetsu and sympathic when it comes to sera. He believes in tetsu's love, yet at the same time he loves to trample on it.

Ultimately, he is a naive little nut who lives in his own world. He does love tetsu, but his viewpoint of love (and some other sctuff) becomes corrupted when they move into the city and he becomes powerful with Kokuryu.

In the end, he himself loses to fate, to tetsu's love, and he becomes as distraught as tetsu once was, when it became evident that tetsu could in fact live without him. There was only one thing that he wanted above all, no matter how he evolved. 

hyde is broken easily because his strength is only a shell that he built.
